Award-winning director Damon Gameau embarks on a journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary footage with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board for his daughter.
“I cannot speak highly enough about the collaboration with Cumulus in making 2040. The engaged discussions with the Cumulus team about what our future may look like, leading to watching those discussions come to life, was a real highlight of the filmmaking process. Their passion and commitment to the realisation of the vision has helped make the film what it is. I look forward to many more engaged discussions with them in the years ahead.”

"Gone was an important project for me on a number of levels. We’ve all been exposed to so many world-class sci-fi films over the years, so it became clear during scripting that the film was only going to work if the VFX and COLOUR was of the highest standard.
What I really enjoyed about working with the team at Elements Post and Cumulus VFX is that they approached the original concept style frames and tone with a great understanding of the narrative. I had thought about the spaceship design for a while, and it was so amazing to see how the team brought it to life informing the story with their creativity during pre-production. I was over the moon with the finished product and I can’t wait to do more with this exceptional team of talent."
“Byron Studios was a critical partner for this season of Nine’s Under Investigation with Liz Hayes. We live-streamed multiple panellists from Byron Studios into our main studio and the facilities were just what we needed. The team in Byron Studios was enormously helpful and I look forward to working with them again.”
